Hi Chops
Yeh i'm using heat silcon grease between the alloy plate & heatsink but prefer the pads between the outputs & aloy plate..Slit Foils & Knobs arrived, waiting for Potentiometer & a few capacitors, i get cracking then..

Do those trannies need isolating from the heatsink 'cos you'll deffo need the pads if they do.

No but i rather use them. They are better transfer than silicon grease i my view...

I take the other view that if you don't need the pads to insulate the devices then you're better off with just the transfer grease.

Can be done neatly if you try and it's a better conductor than the shims. Well I think so.

If its ugly and under cover it could be our dirty little secret.only the people on the network will know you keep sloppy innards and they are all very discrete.
