well i have just fiered up a older model naim two box that i have replaced a while ago , still like the basic sort of sound even plays loud enough wiht my big atc 3 way speakers.
well have been meaning to changing over the wobbly connecters at the speaker out puts ,
had a start last night , what a thin and weedy looking connecter on the inside ???
looks like and amstrad !!! honestly ,a little bit of tin /metal .
as a quick fix just put a couple of cheap posts in to start .
honestly the lead out wire looked like a couple of bell wires.
not sure at all about the original cost of the nap 90 and the nac , i payed £400 with some leads , and it ran for 7 years no problems at all ,
it must be 20 years old , also had a set of nice chep phoo boards fitted .
i know a few of you guys have very little time for the naim thing but it does run along along with a nice strong beat , also lots of steely grey sounds also >
also like me balance control for me play along tracks .

Jazz, I like the Naim phono boards a lot. My current phono stage uses a pair of 323 K boards and the dual mono phono stage I'm building right now uses later 323/3 K boards. Sure Naim are a bit quirky and they got dragged in with the Linn thing but I reckon it's good gear if a bit overpriced.

not sure what phono boards it has but my they sound great for the money i payed , from memory about £20 from the shop , a while ago , i got the impression he had then on th e shelf , waiting to go , , second hand or used i should say,
still i got a gooood deal from the proff on a stand alone musical fidelity which also seems to do the trick , glad i didnt pay the new price ?????

I quite enjoy listeing to some music on a Naim system, very pleasant, but i couldn't live with one. Well built and good s/h market, new stuff way over priced IMVHO for the performance, but you could level that at much kit that doesn't suit your taste. :D I don't like their speakers much, but they aren't the worst sounding speaker i have ever heard.

hi proff
hadent expected to hear from you on this one ?? not sure why
any way i also agree with the various statements re costs etc , but as o ot mine at good enough second hand value and also so importantly was given a loan and good service , actually i ended up buyig the more expensive and older pairing with to my ears a nice little phono section , as you said many times also each to his or hear own taste .
as a musician !! not sure it has too much bearing i like the feeling of push /slam this little combo can give even to both my sets of tricky speakers ,
i have the 62 pre i have , i did borrow for a listen a large 250 per side musical fidelity integrated , well it was sure a bit louder but not a huge differance at all , which came as a pleasent surprice .
i have been able to hear and asses other amps in the lasty year or two , so i have heard the differances ,.
any way you got to have a box to drive the speakers in the end , they aint that bad for my two penniths worth ,
my combo doesent hum or buzz or pick up stray rf ,
it has been a pleasant time to just switch back to the little boxes and spin a few cds , and records.
goning back to me alchamist forsetti integrated soon .
seem to have no input re the crappy out put posts and poss ways to hook in new sockets , but also not as yet reaceived any serious naim are shit flack.

Honestly Jazz. Loking at the Naim circuits seem to be 70's rehasheshes to me.. But if they wurk good on Julian , NOR SOUND GOOD TER ME.. FUNNY ENOUGH THEY SOUND VERY SAME AS THE OLDF FERROGRAPH AMPS.

Jazz, the amount of stuff you have, are you a delear?
If so don't deal with Naim, good resale for the 'blinkered' but a pile of shit for anyone
who wants a semblance of real music.
Some with ears are easily converted and some with a bamboo spike up their arse will never change?
It really mystifies me how many people that trully love music are entranced by the shit
that Naim produces - 5 years ago it was like a trip to the dentist, last year it wasn't too bad - next year they might make something that resembles music - or maybe not.
A grand for a power supply to make your amp not sound a pile of shit - nice sales logic:-)

i aint no dealer , heaven forbid , the service would be the worst you ever got , jesus i wouold be usless in just about every aspect i should think , especially technology , names . models etc ,
just a muso with lots of old hifi stuff for ever switching , but also love picking up me bits for reasonable prices , like a big speaker and some volume at times .
certainly agree prices seem tough to swollow but they got plenty of peeps and i suspect that they aint bothered about me or any one else who dont have the money or wan tto splash the cash , they got to stay in buisness , so more power to them , ion a way ,
but that wasent me thread , i was just after info on re wiring speaker outs and in put , but also noticed , piss poor connection in the box .
not at all really bothered about things really , loving me records and tunes ,
i bet many peeps have just as much stuff/junk lying around as i do .
old rotels , pioneers as well as small kef speakers and other stuff.
