Recently put a 32" LCD Samsung in the living room - one of the older ones so only 720p/1080i

Thought about getting a bluray player but I've no disks so settled on a second hand Pioneer DV-868AVi-S for £100. I think they were £1000 when they first came out..

Arrived today - HDMI out to 1080i, pure audio function, SACD, DVD-A, and all sorts of other gadgets and well built as well.

Picture quality is superb - put the Incredibles on to see what it was like. Currently listening to Yola by Eleanor McEvoy on SACD and it sounds superb. Very pleased at my purchase. I've no DVD-A disks but a few SACD and I might get a couple more.

Amazed at the hit that people are taking on high end DVD players just because of blu ray.

I do the same Mark. When something new comes out I wait a bit and then pick up a secondhand bargain :). Not changed me telly yet. Still got a crt one. However I think as the crunch bites a new LCD telly will come very cheap. Those 40 inch Sammies with the Blu ray player were a grand just before Christmas. The same deal now is under £800 and you can pay later  They're just gonna get cheaper ;)

Hi Mark
I've had Samsung LCD Telly for years now.great pictures...IMHO the worse two new fangled things to come out have got to be Blu Ray & SACD.Both sound & look un natural to me..

I got this in the sales just after Christmas.
http://uk.lge.com/products/model/detail/lcdtv_42lg5000.jhtml

It was £850 before the sale, reduced to £580 in the sale and with some bonus gift tokens from work it cost me £340. Was well chuffed wi mesel:D so much so had to treat mesel to some nice !!!!y cables to hook it all up (which IMO have made a huge difference).
I think the cables, trunking and wall mount came to more than the telly.

I dont have a blu-ray player but my dad does. I was gobsmacked to say the least, its bloody good and is by far the best picture I have ever seen, period. Nothing else on the market today comes close.
but like all new technology it's bloody expensive. Choppy's right, their just going to get cheaper so I'm going to hang back for a while.

Scotty your probably struck by the bright clear images but you have to stand back & say to yourself ''hey that doesnt look natural at all''...I find em uncomftable to watch personally..''bleached images if thats the right word!

I like LG stuff - used quite a bit of their stuff in the past compuyer wise and its never let me down.

The Samsung was one my sister had at work so it was a v cheap deal. I've got one of their newer ones in the back room, still only 32" but full HD. I never see the bugger cos its got the PS3 and the Wii attached.
