L&C are good guys. I used them when I was in Glasgow - use to deal with the bossman when the Glasgow shop first opened - very helpful and knowledgeable. What's his name again? It escapes me...

It's not Allan Boyd I was reffering to, who has always struck me as being a gentleman, but one of his partners ;) It's how I have found him, and what's been reported by more than a few of my customers, it's only one chap to whom I refer, not the shop.
Boydie - that's the man!
He knows me well. I boughtmy first full Naim system from him (CDX/72/Hi-cap/140.Great guy.
I don't know anyone else there these days. His dad used to help out in the Glasgow shop and then he suffered from ill health.
I've also used Glasgow Audio a few times when I livedin Scotland- forget who the boss was there, too, and Stereo Stereo before it went seriously down hill. Old haunts were The Music Room in St Vincent street, where I bought my Ariston RD11S in 1984 (I think). I loved that place.

Boss in Glasgow Audio is Matt Hotchkiss. Decent enough bloke. Took back my Cyrus equipment no questions asked.
I remember The Music Room. Bought my Revolver there.

Hmm very tempting that DP500 especially at the price.
I note that there are basically two types of dealer:
#1 Limited range of kit because they will only sell products they feel passionate about at any given price point. They wouldn't sell any kit that they didn't personally rate very highly.
#2 Extensive range of kit to suit all tastes. They may even have an on-line store for folks who wish to buy stuff without trying it first or for folks who may have already made use of the demo facilitiesto hearkit at #1 but want to get it at a discounted price.
I note also that Shadow have quite an extensive range of stands and isolation solutions as well as other accessories. There's no Quadraspire Reference but they do have other brands offering superior performance rather than just aesthetics to taste.
I wonder if the Professor's stance is a true reflection of that of Shadow. I.e.: would they sell something that they didn't actually believe in?
If i was sad enough to wanna spend loads of dosh on a CD machine it would be that big sony..

The big Sony is probably stunning. I'd be reluctant to spend so much on a 4 year old player though in case it broke.

im sure if you said to any of the staff at shadow "will you sell me that hunk of crap or ill go else where and buy it??....im sure they would do as you want
but if you said to them "what is the best blaa blaa for the money" im sure they would help:666gr:

I've had a couple of big Sony players in the past & had absolutly no trouble at all with em, i can safely say they are very reliable machines,I know people who are still using them from 15 years back on a regular basis...
but i was a sad coont back then, just can't stand listerning to CD these days..
