The live Alison Krauss on MOFIis unbelievable.
Its the closest I've heard hi-fi getting to a live concert. I saw them at the playhouse in Edin a couple of years ago. Its just like being there again.
Swoon....

Smooth. I love PB. Just listening to Modern Cool the noo. I love that swooping electric guitar.
Alison Krauss gets on my tits. Sugary sweet. Well a hundred miles or more is.

Now listening to distortion of love. Head shaking and nodding to the beat. Wonderful.

The Pat Barber on - Cafe Blue? where it's her and just the geetar player - rain or something.
On my one past last, Nu Vista amp, Keswick Torinos, at one point it seemed like the guitar player fell of his stool and thumped the amp - bang! seriously impressive,
next system ( another 500w ish into 4 ohms), not as impressive as he stays in his seat & bangs the ?.
SET's sound like he moves a bit - I think I liked it better when listeners almost s--t themselves when he appeared to fall of the seat :-)))
My best point of reference is a mate of the wife's (female) - she just loves music and has no interest in gear - she has never forgiven me for selling the Passlabs and thinks my Audiopax are a plie of s---.
Says no they don't raise the hairs on my neck like the big one did??????????
Very strange as I thought being able to hear (by virtue of not being forced to work in factories or oil rigs), I thought women would go for subtlety as opposed to brute force - seems not

I've just bought Patricia Barber's The Cole Porter Mix on CD, a superbly recorded album of laid-back, beautifully sung and played music. Oh, and she uses a Faziolo grand, the first time I've heard a recording of this magnificent instrument.

Which of the two Alison Krauss records? The 3 record set, or the one with her band?
Thanks

Thanks Esk ... (Judging from your avatar, maybe that should be "Esk & M")
I think I'll order that one up. Might be a great listen for me once I get my turntable put all back together with upgrades.
That is to say my turn table that is... not... one of those... I mean to say, did someone say turntable?

fuuny as my partner shirly , also has no in terest in the boxes and little in tunes , but she does have a good ear , partly because she was a trumpet teacher for years , classical , any way she often makes comments re this piece of gear and the sound , and it is always spot on ,
she like a few jazz tunes , as well .
my self and shirly realised a while ago that the hifi , is just at the haeart of things a bit of a compromise all round , but you got to start somewhere i suppose .
we went to a live gig at the carnegie on sunday , some great playing indian fiddle and indian drums , spoilt by some pretentious scottish classical musicians, a real shame ,
some of those classical buggers are piss and poor entertainer s.
i would have em all shot , and make car parks out of the venues!!!
keep the jazzers and the rockers , etc .
regards
