Kenny, you baaaaaaaaaaaastid!!!!!!!!!

Just when I thought we might have a Wagner-free zone!!!!!!

Hmmmmm, we obviously need "An Obscure 20th Century English Composers" thread to counter-balance this...

Ride of the Valkyrie? on Mobile Fidelity,
cost a fortune way back when & I'll it enjoy when
I stumble across it.
Last time I played the 9th my mate asked me why I was playing Nazi music?
I 'd hit him before I realised he said nazi not nasty:P

My interest in Wagner was sparked when, as a lad, I chanced upon some piccies of Wagnerian singers. They were wearing such fanciful helmets! The future stormtrooper-dresser in me was immediately hooked. This is one of the reasons why Wagner's operas are so superior to others - they have the best helmets! :-D

But have you got the big boobs to go with it?

"Heil euch, Götter!
Heil dir, Welt!
Heil dir, prangende Erde!
Zu End' ist nun mein Schlaf;
erwacht, se' ich:
Seigrfied ist es
der mich erveckt!

I don't think even i could stomach that. Im more a Tchaikovsky / Rachmaninov / Prokofiev man but i need to be more culturally aware so i may make an effort. :)

I've heard the Brandenburgh concertos before. This one is just the best of Bach (that's what its called) :)

More culturally aware? sorry, Wagner is the biggest charlatan in the history of opera.
I'll quote Ravel 'cos he summed it up nicely:
Wagner has divine moments in between boring-to-death quarters of hours...

Dull film music, pretentious and pompous with no melodic or structural talent. 5 minutes from any Mahler symphony have about the same amount of substance as 4 hours of Wagner.
