Default What I use for music appreciation

Please feel free to list your kit, and pics too, a short piece of how it sounds would be great also.

Looks a bit scruffy at the moment

    CEC transport
    Trivista DAC
    Aura CA200 pre
    Aura PA200 power
    Triangle Antal 202 speaks
    Fisher tuner
    Philips CD recorder

Jupiter & Statos silver power cords
    Audio Note QSS interconnect
    KK Sterling interconnect
    KK Polaris digital co-ax
    Audio Note AN-V speaker cable

    SAP Relaxa support
    Set of Chezi's balls
    Asda granite slabs

None of my kit is "flavour of the month" by any means but I'm very happy with the noises it produces. Aura is very much underrated IMHO,the pre/power combo I owned around 5 years ago and deeply regretted selling ever since so it took that long to find another pair (especially the pre-amp). In the meantime I had MF A308 and Trivista, Magnum, Audio Research, Rotel Michi, VDH Array, PS Audio, Aaron Millenium, Beard, Myryadand a couple more I've forgotten, so apart from the Aaron power ampwhich I rate highlynone could come close to the sound I have now.

    currently

    Michell Gyrodec with Orbe upgrades
Roksan Artemiz arm but currently using a fine audioorigami prototype
Cart is a knacked Roksan shiraz, soon to be replaced

    Shanling Omega Drive CDT-300
    Tascam CDRW4-U CD recorder

World Audio Design Pre II / Phono II
World Audio Design HD83 Headphone amp and Galactic D231 headphones

    World Audio Design KEL84

    Technics ST8080 tuner
    Nakamichi 482z / Sony WM6-D (Walkman Pro)

Art Expression V6 in Piano Black

Ghost, Vdh, Chord, Red Dawn, homebrew cables
    Schroers and Schroers Deltastatic rack
Stands Unique Wall shelf and Target wall shelf

    [line]

The WAD/WD stuff give my system a laid-back smooth sound which I can only describe as easy to listen to - not fatiguing. despite being pretty much all valve it has lots of detail and tight bass. As the WAD stuff is from kits, it's considerably cheaper than similar quality gear would be commercially. I don't feel that I need to change any part of my system, but fancy trying some different things just for curiosity.

    Currently:

    CD Player - Micromega Aria
    Amplifier - DK Designs VS.1 Reference mk3
    Speakers - Art Expression V6
    Power - Isotek Nova
Cables - Jas Audio interconnects / Atlas Apex speaker cables.

The CD player is smooth and detailed and is a great match for the amp which is clear and powerful sounding. The speakers are detailed and dynamic.

its all in my profile, but:

    Source(s):

    Kenwood LD-1 cd player

Sony TTS-8000/TB-1000 turntable with 10" Audioorigami PU-7 and Audio Technica AT33-PTG cart

    Amp:

    Esoteric AZ-1

    Speakers:

ART Expression Monitors (3-way with bass units)

    Wires:

Acrolink 6N A/C cables with Oyaide connectors

    MIT Terminator 6 'speaker cable

Technics Class 1 LCOFC interconnects with Eichmann Bullets

    Description:

it all sounds fantastic, very very different to the Pioneer A-09 and massive Tannoys, and I still get the occasional wish to return to the shear visceral impact of the Tannoys, but the ART/Esoteric combo does so much stuff far better than that system I give myself a slap

I now have a system that I am happy with, the Vinyl is out of this world, huge relaistic soundstage, propulsive bass, and extremly natural and realistic, the transfig carts are among the best i have heard, not hot at the top like a lot of MC's no just real, on trying the Axia I was astounded, the Orpheus well mmmmm just yummy, having listened to many many things, I feel i have the about the best system I could ever have (for me) will i be happy, probably not, getting bits and pieces thrust under your nose everyday kinda makes it hard. Ok changed again, back to the Rhea this time, there is something about the Rhea that i miss, can't put my finger on it, or even describe the differences, but for me, my room and my taste the Rhea has the tingle factor, i'm having a black faced one this time though.

Digital is all about convenience, for times when i have other stuff to do and want to listen to music without changing sides every 5 minutes, I can use the laptop, or the iPhone to choose music stored on the RAID array, and send an optical digital signal to the superb Bel Canto DAC 1.5, i can also use Airfoil to send internet radio, you tube, or Spotify Premium at 320k for evaluation of new music, still gonna take me an age to load up the RAID array, but running RAID 5 with 4 HD's should mean if i have a failure I'll not lose anything, I'm running 4x 1.5TB drives to give 4.5TB in RAID 5, should be plenty space

Music is alive, real, the system does all music well, I play what i like, the system favours no particular genre, anything from 50's swing, to classical, to Rush and ACDC, can listen all day with no fatigue, in short I love it.

As listed on the left. I found the Debut III a major dissapointment, it is murdered by my CD player. Hoping to upgrade later in the year, got to be nice to Mrs B, she is coming into a little bit of money and promised to fund the upgrade.

    Cheers BB
