Thread: Repairing/rewiring Rega R200 tonearm

    Hi J7!
I succeeded in soldering back the connector and looks like everything works fine. But....as I am rebuilding/customizing a TD160, I'd like to use some RCA connector (female) to use whatever cable I want to connect my turntable with the amplifier...and I really do not like the Arm's original cable. So I decided to rewire completely the arm with some cardas cable. I know I may send it to you (I read that you are a magician with these arms...) but I live very far from you (Hungary...) and the R200 is just arrived from U.K. and I really do not want it to suffer another "Post System" treatment...so I decided to DIY myself...and for this reason I have a couple of questions for you (..if you can answer me...)
First I would like to know if it is possible to rewire the arm without disassembling it completely (apart from the headshell terminal)...I do not want to disassemble it...
As I would like to buy this cables http://tinyurl.com/7jzq97q (or 50mm long...) I would like to know, as there are only four wires, what kind of wire I need to use for the ground of the arm. Actually I have a black wire 0,14mm and I would like to know if it's too big and can disturb the arm's movements.
Finally, but the most important, I would like to know from you where I should connect the ground wire at the headshell termination. I read that you fix it to the headshell screw...but I do not completely understand how...if you could help me to solve these questions, that would be amazing! I really want to resurrect these little great arm...bye, Andrea
