    Default DV10x5 - PU7 - LP12. - Good Match?

    Hi,

Im considdering having a pu7 fitted to my LP12 and just wondering which cartridges would work well with this combo. My personal choice would be the DV10x5.
Is this a good choice, or are there better options for the same cartridge cost?

    Regards
    Roy.

I had an LP12, PU7 with a Clearaudio MM cartridge which sounded pretty good. I think the Clearaudio Performer or Artist comes in at around your budget.

I know j7 loves the dynavectors on his PU7, speak to him. LP12’s have their detractors, but they can be fun, the best LP12’s I've heard have all been with PU7’s, it's a no brainer, as for the cartridge, what do you currently use on the 12, arm and cart?

Glad to hear you approve the 10x5 Mr j7. - Thats what I'll go with methinks.

Thanks every one for your help.

    Kind Regards

P.S. Does enyone have any pictures of a standard finish PU7 and a polished one please. I'm not yet sure which one to go for.

    Smile Got it!

    Hi all,

Well I now am the proud owner of a PU7 fitted with 10x5 on my LP12.
Been using it for about a week and Im very pleased with it. I also had the good fortune to meet Trevor from Guildford Audio and would just like to say - a nicer chap you couldn't wish to meet. Very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to that man.

Anyway, my main reason for posting is to ask how do I adjust the tracking weight (and I assume the bias) as I feel my 10x5 may be tracking a little too heavy. I say this because I wound a little solder around the back of the arm just behind the counter weight to reduce tracking force a little, and it was immediately better - clearer brighter and more vibrant without loosing any bass weight or definition. Are there any instructions please?

Also, as I have no way of checking the tracking force accurately, how do I go about purchasing the DIGITAL STYLUS SCALES from the audio Origami web site?

    Regards to all
    Royville

    hi m8

just PM me about the stylis scales ...that will make your life easyer

the rear weight on the pu7 has a small allan key type grub screw in the side of it and you simply use the supplied allan key and loosen the grub screw just a little and then move the counter weight backwards a tiny bit
