hey Ray, had you been drinking when taking that second pic, or did you get caught in the earthquake the other day?

makes a change to get a little gem like this , once I have replaced the capacitors I will give it a spin on the els57`s. Drives my imf`s a treat . The record is "GO" by Stumo Yamashta , Steve Windwood and Michael Shrieve an oldy but goody

If you want one I have a Yamaha KX-493 sitting doing nowt.

My first proper separates system consisted of a Dual 505 Mk1 and B&W DM10 speakers. Most of my home recorded tapes where made on that Dual - still sound good.

I have a Yamaha KX-530 in the house. It's quite a nifty deck with LED counter but it probably needs a service. I know that there was some breakthrough hum on the sound which suggested that the PS Electrolytics needed replaced. Mind you it is nearly 30 years old.

Get thee behind me temptation , thanks guys but I really am deep enough in the doo doo at the moment . When the dust settles I shall have a rethink , the Armstrongs don't sound too shabby through the ELS57s now they have been recapped ect but I love that little amp driving the IMF`s its the high damping factor at a guess. The b &w`s are dm 100`s and for the effort of replacing a pair of terminal posts a bit like my other half plug ugly but great when onsong. Thanks again guys.

ordered up some transistors today fortunately not the hefty old output jobs , as usual with old kit its a pita getting some bits and pieces but sod it I have grown to love this old amp .Have taken my mc88 out of service to give it the onceover so using the 303 +passive in the front room seems strange not to be hammering the party amp. Tried a Cambridge audio a5 I have kicking around but it wernt having none of the els 57s , sounded shite so I shall pass that on to one of the kids or eldest grand kid they have cloth ears. Now just waiting for bits shame there are no more electronics hobby shops about nowdays ,buying online is ok but waiting for delivery is a load of spheroids.
