It's what always happens when something is funded with our money Gary. There's always been a fill yer boots, grab what you can and f--k the rest of 'em attitude. Our politicians set a fine example so you can't really blame those they claim to represent.

As for my journey well I'm still on it. I get tired much more easily than I did before I went through all this and I find it hard to motivate myself. I could quite happily sit here at the keyboard all day or go back to bed but I'm going to force myself to hoover up, wash and polish the living room floor as soon as I've finished this post and then I'm off to the workshop. I did manage to motivate myself sufficiently to fix your amp though

Does it sound different then? Did you just change those two film caps?

Yep, just those two Russian film caps. I listened to it before and after and now it sounds slightly richer maybe but goes down further. It drives my IMFs as well as can be expected for a small amp.

As well it should. It was a bloody good amp before you had it. Pesky Russians.

When are you planning your next trip south? Would the train be better or involve a lot of changes?

It's a strange thing but it sounded fine after I messed with it the first time. Mind you that was using the TDLs upstairs and they can be very bass heavy and overblown. That was the main reason for buying the IMFs that replaced them in the downstairs system. On the other hand maybe I just thought it sounded ok. I was battered out of my skull on morphine, tramadol and solpadol. It was a hazy five months or so

Should have played some Bob Dylan and Bjork, they would have sounded better.

A huge thanks to Simon for returning my A60, it's sounding much better and hasn't lost the clarity it had and now goes down lower as it should.

Nice one. What did Si do to it?

Changed those Russian caps for correct value ones. Not Si's fault as they are marked incorrectly. The bass was rolling off too soon. Si should be along to explain it all.

Si, thanks for the name of this product which I've ordered now. I'll let you know how I get on with it. I reckon most other garages would have failed the headlights, the poor condition they are in.

The A60 is sounding very sweet now the new parts have bedded in. The bass is very good for such a small amp and yesterday I was playing Telegraph from Bjork, which is a remix album and the bass was so strong it rattled a door, so I put the foam bungs into the Amphion's ports. That tamed the bass a little - I'll have to see how other, bass heavy albums perform. It could be I have a problem with part of the room.
