Default Cassette tapes, did they ever go away?

I still occasionally use both of my tape decks and just found out the single TDK MA-R90 metal tape I have could be worth quite a bit. A spanish ebayer has one on a BIN for 130 euros (about 95).

I have one TDK MA90 and a Sony Metallic. Anything that isn't run-of-the-mill will become collectable. Of course at the time we don't always see the future value of things.

Here's my first proper cassette deck (mine was in silver) and the one most of my home recordings were made on.

    This is what I used.

Fell out of use fairly quickly znd I ended up selling it for a fraction of what it cost me. Don't miss it at all - other than just to look at!

I think i've got one of those metal "metal" tapes at my mum and dads house. I've still got a tape deck up there as well.

Will sell them and buy more records probably.

I had a Denon DRM800a deck for years thought it sounded mega when cassettes were a thing, I had thousands of tapes too, loads of recordings from the radio. I stopped using it for a long time as there was no need, when I tried a couple of years back I found out that the belts had gone. Procrastinated about sourcing some new ones and fixing it but instead I just flogged it as was on eBay and binned the tapes. Probably daft as there would have been some killer music on them and I had a load of early live tapes from bands I was in. Some times it's good to just sack off the past I guess.
I still really want a Pioneer RT-909 open-reel deck in black, probably wouldn't actually play any music on it, just use it as an ornament as they're quite sexy!
