Default Best rock albums of the 70s

I have bought Classic Rock's 'The Real 100 Greatest Albums of the 70s' mag and for a change, only one album per artist was allowed so there's a good mix included. Also, the usual most popular albums weren't allowed so there's quite a few surprise/different entries.

Of the top ten there's five I don't have.

I'll list the top 20. You'll have to buy the mag to get the rest. (Bear in mind it's Classic Rock.)

    20. Van Halen II

    19. Iggy Pop - The Idiot

    18. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Second Helping

    17. ZZ Top - Degϋello

    16. The Faces - A nod is as good as a wink... to a blind horse

    15. Buzzcocks - Singles Going Steady

    14. Genesis - A Trick of the Tail

    13. Alice Cooper - Killer

    12. Kate Bush - The Kick Inside

    11. Television - Marquee Moon

    10. Queen - News of the World

    9. Sex Pistols - Spunk

    8. Rush - A Farewell to Kings

    7. The Rolling Stones - Some Girls

    6. Pink Floyd - Meddle

    5. David Bowie - Station to Station

    4. Led Zeppelin - Live on Blueberry Hill (yes, a bootleg that will cost you at least 70.)

    3. The Who - Quadrophenia

    2. Black Sabbath - Sabotage

    1. AC/DC - Powerage

    (don't shoot the messenger.)

I've just ordered News of the World - the 2015 (Abbey Road) remastered vinyl. Always wanted to get that album but never got around to it. Listening on Spotify it sounds varied and interesting.

    I'll give Spunk a miss.

If those 20 albums were a premiership football squad , they would be Aston Villa . And number 5 would be Gabby Agbonlahor.

Harsh in parts; true in others.
20 years ago we had Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Steve Jobs. Now we have no Cash, no Hope and no Jobs. Please God, don't take Kevin Bacon

If I had to pick one of theirs it would be the second album. More concise than PG, which is too long to hold interest IMO.

unusual as most folk I know choose either 1 or 4,probably because it has stairway on it, as their best album,I prefer 3 to both of those! lol,if it's a list of best 100 rock albums how can they restrict it to one per artist?either ii's a list of the best 100 or it isn't,this isn't!

I have 8 of those listed.

Has anyone heard Montrose - Montrose? Brilliant in my mind.
I have a Rock and I'm not afraid to use it.

just had a proper look at the 20 you posted ,a few of them cannot be classed as rock,(kick inside,meddle,quadrophenia:-I have them all and like them all but they aren't really classic rock albums, echos is far from rock!)
