    Nicely put.
20 years ago we had Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Steve Jobs. Now we have no Cash, no Hope and no Jobs. Please God, don't take Kevin Bacon

The problem is nothing can be proved beyond reasonable doubt as to what happened to the arm over a number of years, otherwise Johnnie would have a case for character defamation. He might still have as the thread on the Linn forum is grossly unfair.

    In terms of defamation .

O/A is a company , it will be covered by the new defamation act of 2013

In terms of proof , defamation is somewhat more complicated . You first need to prove that what as been written is defamation ,ie injurious to reputation. New act places a commercial harm burden on the definition of injurious to reputation .

The fact of defamation is established by the court interpreting what a reasonable person would commonsensically understand from the text complained off when the text is placed in the context of all relevant text .

It is my opinion that the bloke on the Linn forum is accusing O/A of incorrectly rebuilding his Linn tonearm. To be frank any person would draw that conclusion and he helpfully titles his thread accordingly .

That is Defamation - end off . No iffs or butts .

Thus the question that needs asking is does the person have a defence . defences are:

"fair comment a difficult one to prove and even fair comment relies on the basic facts to be true .

best of all , "what I said was true" . The truth is an absolute defence to defamation .You can also argue that the person as no reputation to offend . a much loved loophole of comedians .

    So

O/A are well regarded company with a good reputation . As stated in my previous post there is no factual basis that would establish the defamation to be true or indeed fair comment.

The thread is therefore in my opinion Actionable Defamation . O/A have a cause of action against the person and the publisher.

Personally I would let the matter lie . you cannot stop illegitimate complaints , there is no substance to this one and it is drowned out by a cacophony of positive comment and recommendations .

Availed of all the facts , only an idiot would blame O/A for that plonkers problem and the distasteful way he went about reporting it .

Ron the Moan needs to take anger management or see his shrink asap.
WYSAH, regardless of anything else has put his customer up to this stunt which says it all about this person and certain individuals like HBerg who would just love there to be some substance in their story.

At one point bluedog says he knew his arm was going to Johnnie then says later he didn't.

Once again I can't believe bluedog wouldn't notice his arm wasn't right, Keel and Radikal is no excuse and if that's the case Colin should be ashamed selling him an Ekos SE if his hearing is so bad. After all we are made to believe all LSR customers can hear the difference between each side of a Linn felt mat hahaha.

Anyone with sense has worked it out that the acronym WYSAH stands for "what you stupid ass hole" and was created in reference to folk who are dull enough to spend waay over the odds for his services. Fit's Ron the Moan's profile perfectly don't ya think?

Having met Johnnie and having a few hours chatting about stuff, I cannot believe he is capable of this kind of workmanship. It is a shame that someone would wait so long to get something done about a problem that they were only aware of due to a dealer trying to fit a cartridge.

Sadly this piece of nonsense has raised it's head once again on the Linn forum.

There are two issues which concern me.

Firstly, why was the performance of the arm deemed acceptable once set up and demoed?
Was it,perhaps because it was performing as expected with no issues?

Secondly, if the arm was not performing to an acceptable standard, why was the guarantee not invoked and the arm returned to J7?

It is worth noting Peter's comments on the fit of the spindle according to Linn.
If it was as described, the arm would not have worked at all.

John R, you are correct in what you say, particularly in #15.

J7 is a gentleman and a master of his art and should not be subject to this sort of professional abuse.
I speak as someone who has had three individual operations carried out by John and could not be happier.
His work and his work ethic are unimpeachable and therefore when it comes time to upgrade, guess who will be doing the work. NO BRAINER!!!

Johnny's nothing if not an honest man.

I, too, am troubled by the time lapse between service and complaint, and the hasty conclusion that it's John's doing.

Another thing that perplexes me--Why was the arm re-wired?

    Thumbs down Bluedog

Appears bluedog has a problem with people speaking out in favour of businessmen accused of poor service. Even when nothing to do with himself. He certainly received a rebuttal here.

Hints at the character of Bluedog I reckon.

    WillRae,

I think you're quite right. It appears that the prospect of anyone having a different opinion than Bluedog is, for him, un-thinkable. He quite literally cannot get his mind around it. In the post you reference, he is perplexed to the point of questioning the motives of anyone who would say such a thing as "I've had a different experience" of the very topic of discussion. It would probably be, well, not very nice of me to offer some diagnostic speculation based on this limited (though nonetheless compelling) "data." Suffice it to say that he is not a reasonable man.

    Tube Nube,

I agree with your surmising of Bluedog.

    On Colin Macey of WYSAH i'd surmise this from my 12 month experience on the Linn forum ;

He is a Linn jobsworth, not a bad thing to be loyal to your superior as a Linn agent. This comes with responsibilities in so far as Linn is responsible for his actions. Mr Macey dismisses everything and anything that is 3rd party, even down to rewiring tonearms.

There are many examples of his dismissiveness on the Linn forum. Each time anyone mentions anything 3rd party or critical of Linn he responds st length with a story about one of his customers. I took notice of the first few however this man has a story about absolutely everything, at the right time, for the right situation. It simply defies belief.

Some Linn Specialist dealers also use ficticious accounts to represent customer experiences at certain times. The first ever post they make is a massive long story of an oustanding customer experience at their dealership. Others are t0used to ferment the fear around 3rd party options for the LP12.

If you spend little time on the forum you likely won't notice however if like me you're not a blinkered Linn devotee, it's easy to jotice these tricks. I feel sorry for some brainwashed owners who fall under their spell.

This dishonesty brings me back to j7's thread and why I believe this whole saga is made up by Colin Macey and bluedog. It's not beyond reason to sudpect these two could collude to attempt to damage J7's excellent reputation. It's low but imho so are they, especially Mr Macey who is a VINDICTIVE, jealous and greedy individual and I already told him so on the Linn forum not long ago.

If you've been looking FOR YEARS for a reason to damage someones business, waiting patiently for evidence but nothing ever came along, then ehy not just make something up in conjunction with a willing associate.

This from way back 1/1/10 , the superior Linn are responsible for the actions of their agent WYSAH. Time this fabricated thread was removed from the Linn forum.

Colin Macey at WYSAH is a grade a Charlatan with a capital C. I personally wouldn't entrust any of my LP12's to him, end of.

How can anybody apart from the owner say for sure that the arm hasn't been taken apart/tampered with in the years since the arm was serviced by Johnny? who knows the owner himself may have tried to improve on the performance himself and screwed it up but then again everybody knows that only Linn and Linn alone can design manufacture and sell decent products that perform perfectly, after all they did a bang up job assembling the original ekos using wrong grade of grease that caused the tracking dial to jam(the ittok assembled in japan never had this issue!) and they always produced decks with perfectly flat/true sub chassis, or is my memory playing tricks on me?

It's an interesting idea that maybe Blue Dog isn't for real, but a fake customer invented to further Macey's marketing agenda. Could the story have been manufactured as a cautionary tale to say "here's what happens to you when you deal with anyone other than me . . . ."

Yeah the Linnie's as so misguided folks, I really pity them now.

Some of the questions asked on that forum beggars belief !
